Stephanie’s first teams coaching the Recreation and Parks league in El Segundo. Her second grade team was the Banana Slugs, and had Dylan Bucher as one of the players. Her 3rd/4th grade team was the Tigers.

As has been the case ever since Ron can remember, the family played in the Tigers Basketball Tournament over Memorial Day weekend. The Venice Ponies won the championship of the VFW tournament 7th Grade Girls Silver division. The championship game was very exciting, with the 98 Tigerettes jumping out to a 10-0 lead early in the game. As part of our trip to San Diego for the San Diego Classic, the El Segundo High School Girls Basketball Team had lunch at Seau’s Restaurant in Mission Valley. The girls punked their coach by telling the waitress it was her birthday.
The El Segundo High School girls basketball team held a fund raiser at the 4th of July celebration at Recreation Park in El Segundo. They sold Chinese Chicken Salad, Spam Musubis, and baked goods.
Once again, we traveled to Las Vegas for the annual Hollywood Dodgers basketball tournament. We stayed at the Desert Paradise Resort, but this time booked a two bedroom unit. Stephanie played with the El Segundo High School girls basketball team played in the San Diego Classic this weekend. It is supposedly the largest high school girls basketball tournament in the country, with over 300 girls high school basketball teams (who practiced with the help of adjustable basketball hoop) competing from Thursday through Sunday. Morgan’s basketball team, the Venice Ponies, played the first game of three last night. They beat the FOR Hula Hoops 11 to 5. Morgan had a basket in the second half, getting the ball down in the low wing and driving to the hoop. More pictures here.
